Job Description

SUMMARY

The Electrical Engineer III conceptualizes, designs, develops, and tests electronics for space and defense products and systems. Seeking experienced digital electronics hardware / software engineer to lead a family of microcontroller-based products.  Hardware requirements include ruggedized component selection, board level development for extreme environments, and space & missile qualification.  Software requirements include the development of HIL and SIL test facilities, regression test planning, firmware release processes and bug tracking. Responsibilities include the oversight of a small team of hardware / software developers along with direct management of 3rd party suppliers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads digital circuit designs designed to interface discrete analog control-based systems with serial-based digital command and control systems in accordance with customer requirements and industry standards
  • Documents and tracks requirements for performance, compliance with customer requirements, test procedures, test reports, and any other contractual specifications
  • Leads test activities throughout the product development and qualification lifecycle
  • Leads top-level circuit analysis to ensure safe and reliable operation
  • Verifies development work performed by peers and junior engineers
  • Supports management of software code and infrastructure  
  • Effectively interacts with customers by supporting presentations and technical reviews 
  • Effectively interacts with suppliers by managing subcontracts
  • Mentor and resource for more junior engineers

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Typically possesses 5+ years of aerospace, defense, and/or avionics experience
  • Detailed knowledge of military specifications and industry standards
  • Proven experience in leading digital circuit design and development of robust hardware
  • Experience with testing/troubleshooting/failure analysis techniques
  • Proficient experience with PCB layout, and board level analysis tools
  • Proficient experience with electrical test equipment including oscilloscope, DMM, power supply, DAQ, logic analyzer, network analyzer, etc.
  • Familiarity with C/C++/C#, Python, Matlab
  • Experience utilizing communication/bus protocols (RS-422, RS-485, MIL-STD-1553, ethernet, etc.)
  • Experience developing serial communication hardware / software
  • Experience designing, building, and testing digital control systems using microcontrollers and/or FPGAs
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
