Description
The Assistant to the Director of Admissions is particularly responsible for planning, coordinating,
and directing activities designed to attract, enroll, and retain students to FASNY. This position
oversees all divisions (Nursery-12) admissions process, as well as participating in school-wide
admissions efforts. A willingness to learn about the School, our mission, curriculum, and
admissions policies is essential. Ideal candidates will possess strong database skills and
demonstrated experience using data for strategic thinking. Additionally, they will have
exceptional interviewing skills and the ability to meaningfully engage prospective students and
families. This is a full-time position. The Assistant to the Director of Admissions will report to the
Director of Admissions.
Responsibilities Include:
• Help with communicating the mission and vision of the School to prospective families by
participating in all admissions functions.
- Support the recruitment process by connecting and communicating with prospective
students and their families to keep them fully engaged throughout the admissions process
- Conduct and/or summarize student interviews on campus and virtually
- Manage and process completed applications on the School’s databases and prepare their
files to be read by committee members. Ensure the accuracy of the information entered in
School Admin in anticipation of transferring data to our main Blackbaud database.
- Read and evaluate all application files as well as organize and attend committee meetings
- In conjunction with the divisions, assign shadow day hosts for visitors
- Represent FASNY at various events both on and off campus including but not limited to
school fairs, school visits, presentations, and visits to sending organizations
- Assist other members of the Admissions office with various duties, including, but not limited
to Tour Guide and Student/Parent Ambassador Programs
- Play an integral role in the planning and execution of all on-campus recruiting and yield
events
- Support and/or manage projects related to other office-wide efforts such as marketing and
admission communications, data analysis, outreach, and event planning with an emphasis
on emerging trends relating to multicultural student recruitment
- Other duties as indicated and assigned by the Director of Admissions
Desired Qualifications, Skills, & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 1 year experience in admissions and/or enrollment management, preferably in an
independent school setting
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

- Ability to comfortably, warmly, and effectively engage with large and small groups of adults
and/or students in professional or social settings
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Commitment to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and proactively with all FASNY
constituents including, but not limited to, employees, students, parents, and the Head of
School
- Strong sense of teamwork and enthusiasm for working with students
- Positive energy, flexibility and a desire to participate in the life of the school
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills with an ability to
meet deadlines
- Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
- High degree of comfort and experience with computer technology; proficiency in School
Admin and Blackbaud is a plus
- Fluency in French is required
