Printing Press Assistant

Shift: 2nd/3rd

POSITION PURPOSE

Support the lead pressman in setting up, making ready, running jobs, and washing press up.

The individual must be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions and physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Read manufacturing order
• Produce and inspect offset plates and ensure they meet quality specifications
• Ready Offset plates for next shift to ensure continuous operation
• Pre-load plates/Hang plates
• Maintain Ink inventory and prepare for press
• Ink fountains
• Order out rolls
• Prep Rolls/Hang rolls
• Record Roll usage in Computer
• Set-up and Adjust Cut-Star Sheeter
• Regularly Inspect Press for Faults
• Clean press and surrounding area
• Assist pressman with job, shift, and weekly clean-up
• Miscellaneous tasks as indicated by Lead Pressman
• Miscellaneous tasks as indicated by management
• Tag partial or unused rolls and return to warehouse
• Follow company procedures

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Must be able to accurately read a ruler
• Must be able to use a computer for light data entry
• Must be able to identify different types of paper, color, gauge, grain
• Must be able to accurately see colors

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

EDUCATION

• Highschool Diploma or GED

MUST HAVE

• At least 1 year of printing experience
• Must pass a background check and drug screen
• Must have a valid driver’s license and car

NICE TO HAVE

• 4 color+ press
• Experience with a roll-to-sheet (e.g., Cut Star) press
• Experience with Manroloan press

MISC.

• Any related Certificates in the printing field are helpful but not mandatory
• Ability to work overtime
