This position reports to the Director of Public Relations and is responsible for supporting key public relations, writing, and communications initiatives including assisting in planning and implementing tactical media and public relations initiatives
Principal Accountabilities

  • Developing press releases and persuasive pitches to garner media attention

  • Creates written communications, ensuring accuracy, consistent voice and tone, brand integrity, and adherence to University brand positioning and message pillars. Materials include press releases as well as other web and communications content. Proficiency in working in web content management system.

  • Responsible for daily news monitoring.

  • Manages University Merit Pages tool for Deans’ List and other hometown student success news distribution and measurement.

  • Skilled in analytics and related platforms to evaluate the effectiveness of various public relations campaigns and create monthly and annual reports. In conjunction with the Director, use data to improve reach on engagement of PR initiatives.

  • Other duties as assigned.


The position requires an undergraduate degree with a minimum of 5-10 years of demonstrated experience and success in public relations and digital communications, including utilization of social media as a public relations tool. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful and highly skilled public relations professional with excellent writing, storytelling, and media relations ability. Requires proficiency in developing creative press releases and media pitches that align with the University’s strategic priorities and garner media attention. Must have excellent project management skills, timeline management, and analytics skills to assess media impact and measure designated key performance indicators (KPIs). Ability to balance multiple priorities in a rigorous, fast paced, environment. Higher education experience is preferred
