This position is responsible for completing financial clearance prior to point of service. Duties for this position include: obtain and validate orders, insurance verification, obtaining prior authorizations from insurance companies, compliance, pre-service estimates, payment plans, Medicaid referrals and charity pre-screening. Basic coding knowledge and proficiency in medical terminology is recommended, as this position requires extensive review of diagnosis and procedure codes. Excellent customer service skills are required. This position is imperative to avoid authorization or technical denials based on poor or incomplete information. This position serves as a liaison between the practices, insurance companies and the hospital department providing service. Effective Financial Clearance ensures a seamless patient financial experience.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures/Certifications/Registrations Required:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: One year previous insurance experience. One year customer service experience.
- Training: Comfortable with commonly used computer applications.
- Typing: Must type 40-45 wpm.
