Assistant Director needed at Abraxas in Morgantown, PA


Abraxas Youth and Family Services is a non-profit organization and a national leader in the operation of residential treatment facilities and community-based programs for troubled youth and their families.




Summary


This position is responsible for managing the operations of a residential facility to ensure clients receive the highest level of services in a safe and secure environment.





Primary Duties and Responsibilities



  • Monitors and manages the facility’s operations to ensure policy compliance, effective supervision of clients, delivery of quality services and the implementation facility schedules.

  • Ensures quality and continuity of clinical services and curriculum within established parameters.

  • Develops and executes departmental policies in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.

  • Assures compliance with applicable licensing and regulatory agencies.

  • Updates and amends policy and procedures manual for accuracy and regulatory compliance.

  • Supervises, assists with hiring, and evaluates staff performance, develops measurable objectives for necessary improvements and implements appropriate corrective action to staff adhering to human resources policies and utilizing Human Resources when necessary.

  • Confers with local agencies such as social service, community relations, and criminal justice to interpret the institutional programmatic activities and objectives as well as developing cooperative working relationships.

  • Assumes overall direction of the program including communication with internal management and external agencies in the absence of the Facility Director.

  • Evaluates training needs of the facility for staff members and coordinates training activities and programs.

  • Communicates regularly and thoroughly with appropriate supervisory staff member on matters such as operational, administrative, and personnel issues within the program/facility.

  • Attend staff meetings and conferences.

Minimum Requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral or social science field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in residential and non-residential facility of which three (3) years must be in a supervisory or managerial level or a Master’s degree a behavioral or social science field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in residential and non-residential program of which one (1) year experience must be in a supervisory or managerial level.

  • Ability to compose a variety correspondence such as memorandums, letters, agendas, summaries, etc. in a clear and concise manner. May be required to proofread the work of others and suggest changes when necessary.

  • Ability to speak clearly when interacting with others in person or while on the telephone. Ability to ask questions when assignments are unclear or ambiguous. Ability to communicate with officials, clients and the general public.

  • Ability to complete assignments accurately and within the given deadlines. Ability to plan accordingly when deadlines of current projects change.

  • Ability to work independently and in group settings.

  • Ability to lead the work of others on occasion.

  • Knowledge of all software applications used by the supported group. This typically includes using word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, charts and database software applications. Must be able to determine when various software applications should be integrated together when completing assignments.

  • Knowledge of various equipment typically found in an office environment.

  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.

  • Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI).

  • Non-communicable diseases physical exam.

  • Valid driver's license issued from state of residence.

  • Valid registered vehicle insurance.
