Job Responsibilities




Under immediate supervision, assists in performing professional work providing support and assistance to end users of applications, software and automated equipment; assists in the testing, configuring, and implementation of agency personal computer installations; lifts equipment weighing up to 30 pounds; assists in software distribution at user provided facilities using software installation scripts, procedures and programs; assists end-users on-site and remotely with problem diagnosis and repair on a statewide basis; updates designated service management systems and documentation. Serves on an on-call basis for software and hardware problems. Travels in performance of duties.

  • Assists in performing professional work providing support and assistance to end users of applications, software and automated equipment; assists in the testing, configuring, and implementation of agency personal computer installations; assists experience systems analysts in software distribution at user provided facilities using application software installation scripts, procedures and programs; assists with the testing, implementation, documentation and maintenance of personal computer systems; assists end-users on-site and remotely with problem diagnosis and repair on a statewide basis and elicits sufficient information to enable higher level professionals to resolve the more complex problems, while developing skills to provide higher level of technical support services.
  • Participates with senior analyst in the configuration, testing, installation, documentation and maintenance of desktop/laptop systems and related peripheral systems; lifts equipment weighing up to 30 pounds; assists in ensuring configurations complying with agency security considerations, performance requirements, and established standards.
  • Performs the process of duplicating new operating system installations for efficient on-site installations of large quantities of desktop/laptops statewide; conducts on-site desktop/laptop installations and provides direct user contact support; maintains updated desktop operating system patches and fix-packs; updates designated service management systems and documentation.
  • Assists higher level staff in conducting training sessions for end users and staff; compiles and organizes workshop materials, acquires and maintains all training materials in compliance with all requirements; provides telephone support to users; submits documentation to supervisor on issues and/or problems.
  • Attends formal training classes provided by Central Management Services Training Center and may include training provided by private vendors as approved by the Division and management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.





Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities




Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields; or satisfactory completion of an agency sponsored training program. Requires elementary knowledge of Information Technology concepts and principles, the theories and functions of computer systems, and the principles and techniques of Informational Technology documentation. Requires elementary knowledge of personal computing hardware and software, languages, and procedures to provide assigned technical and analytical services. Requires working knowledge of oral and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision. Requires ability to lift equipment up to 30 lbs. Requires a valid driver's license and the ability to travel statewide. Requires the ability to serve on an on-call basis. Requires carrying and ability to operate a mobile communication device (i.e. computer, cell telephone).



Specialized Skills:
elementary knowledge in the following: supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Automation products, Automated Software Deployment tools such as Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Installer scripts, System Center Configuration Manager, Lite-Touch, network communication concepts and principles including knowledge of client network configurations, routing protocols, Virtual Private Network and Internet and computer programming and/or scripting.




This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.



Requires the ability to successfully complete a nationwide background check, which includes fingerprints and photograph, as defined by the Internal Revenue Service Pub 1075.
