Position Overview:

Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento is the foundation of Sutter Health, Northern California's largest health network with 29 acute care hospitals, more than 5,000 primary care physicians and specialists, home health, occupational health, psychiatric care and more. The downtown Sacramento medical center is made up of several facilities that include Ose Adams Medical Pavilion, Anderson Lucchetti Women's & Children's Center, and Sutter Center for Psychiatry.

Ose Adams Medical Pavilion

The 281-bed specialty medical center focuses on general acute medical/surgical care as well as a medical base to advanced services for cancer, orthopedics, spine, and neurology, and neurosurgery.

Anderson Lucchetti Women's & Children's Center

The 242-bed specialty medical center focuses on women's and children's specialty services and includes medical intensive care units for cardiac and neurological patients.

The Nursing Director provides overall administrative and clinical leadership, direction, and management on a 24 hour basis.

Qualifications:


Education: Licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Master's Degree or equivalent experience and education is preferred. Bachelor's Degree required



Experience: Extensive successful management experience in a highly productive leadership role is required. Mastery in leading multiple levels or personnel in a multi-complex, dynamic environment is required. Prior experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting for a minimum of 3 years is necessary. Administrative or supervisory experience in a hospital department or health services is required. Demonstrates experience utilizing effective interpersonal communication, supervisorial, organizational, and priority-setting skills. Demonstrates ability to plan, organize, and implement a patient focused program in a health care setting



Knowledge: The incumbent must be well versed in the administrative and clinical areas supervised. Qualifications include proven successful experience with physician relations, marketing opportunities, supervision, personnel management, clinical/non-clinical and operating budget preparation, project planning and management within a complex environment. Excellent written and oral communications skills along with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements including Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare organizations (JCAHO), Department of Health Services (DHS) , and Title 22 specifications. The incumbent must be well versed in hospital and medical staff organization and structure; must be fluent in medical terminology to include diagnostic and operative procedures. Current knowledge of State, Federal, and Professional industry standards pertaining to health care practice is desired. Knowledge of adult education principals is required



Special Skills/Equipment: Conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills in a complex environment are required. Tact, diplomacy, and ability to work with individuals in all levels of hospital and medical staff organization. Ability to work with confidential information. Excellent presentation skills are necessary. Leadership and team skills that enable working cooperatively with diverse groups of people in all facilities. Must possess computer skills and knowledge required to support a nursing information system. National certification appropriate to the area of specialty is preferred. Multi-tasking and communication skills are necessary
