This position is covered by the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991. Individuals applying for this position or incumbents of this position are required to hold a valid commercial driver's license as a condition of employment. The act requires that all such individuals be subject to pre-employment and continuing post-employment drug and alcohol testing. Failure to comply with such testing is grounds for dismissal from employment with the University.
Operates backhoe performing utility line digs, sidewalk repairs and other construction or landscape projects and maintaining storm water basins.
Operates mini-excavator performing utility line digs, sidewalk repairs and other construction or landscape projects in areas too small for backhoe. Operates using forestry mulcher attachment.
Operates front end loader to move dirt, load trucks with mulch and other construction or landscape projects.
Operates skid steer to move limbs or other debris from tight areas to gain access to grapple truck or other equipment. Operates using auger attachment to dig holes for tree installations.
Operates dump truck to haul material and debris and supporting other construction or landscape projects.
Operates grapple truck to remove large limbs and debris from campus locations.
Clean, maintain, and make basic repairs to equipment.
Coordinates employees in absence of supervisor.
Performs other duties and work as directed
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 07:00 a.m. to 03:30 p.m.
A criminal background check and post offer health assessment will be conducted.
Position is considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.
The incumbent will be required to satisfactorily complete the COVID-19 screening process. The screening includes a questionnaire and the option to participate in the UF COVID-19 testing.
$17.00 Hourly based on experience.
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience. Classified driver license appropriate to the type(s) of vehicle(s) operated.

- Skill in operating heavy equipment
- Ability to perform light maintenance and service work
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
