Western State Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide a welcoming and recovery oriented environment for new admissions. The position will communicate clinical and administrative issues to management. Additionally, the successful incumbent will evaluate and document staff performance and coordinate services on assigned shifts.
Western State Hospital is seeking Registered Nurse applicants for Quasi Full-time – Salaried (Q Status), WORK 36 HOURS, GET PAID FOR 40 HOURS for the following schedules:
- Sat and Sun 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- One flex day during the week (M-F) 12 hour shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
RN Licensure or eligibility in Virginia. Previous experience working with consumers with serious mental illness is a requirement. Experience with physical health assessments required. Experience working independently and making critical clinical decisions quickly to coordinate services is a must.
Certification in psychiatric nursing a plus. Psychiatric nursing experience preferred. Knowledge of Virginia Pre-screening procedures and Virginia statues related to ECOs and TDOs helpful. Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus.
The successful applicant must pass a criminal background investigation, drug screening test and employment reference check. The applicant must have the ability to perform at the level of physical demands noted on the Employee Work Profile and the verified ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
