JOB TITLE: Sales Representative - Ready Mix Concrete (RMC)
Reporting Supervisor: Manager, RMC
Work Area/Department: Altoona Area Ready Mix Concrete Sales/Office Location: Roaring Spring Annex
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Sales Representative, RMC is responsible for promoting, selling, and securing orders for ready-mixed concrete from prospective and existing customers within the NESL Altoona market area, resulting in increased revenue, market share, and profitability. Market segments include, but are not necessarily limited to, federal/state, municipality, manufacturing, commercial and residential markets.
Develops, establishes, and maintains business relationships with prospective and current customers in the assigned territory and/or market segment, generating new business for the organization’s products/services.
Responsible for management and oversight of the Altoona Area Ready Mix Dispatch Center, includes staffing and time management for the Dispatch Center staff.
Researches and identifies prospective customer opportunities, diligently pursues via telephone, email, networking events, and/or office cold calls, and determines the prospect’s potential.
Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for prospective and existing customers.
Clearly develops and documents account plans/prospecting plans for target accounts/prospects and reviews progress with Sales Manager on a regular basis.
Expedites the resolution of customer problems and complaints, working as the liaison for the customer with all departments within NESL.
Coordinates sales efforts with sales management, operations, accounting, and quality control.
Constantly analyzes the territory/market’s potential, as well as existing and potential customers to determine their value to NESL.
Understands the sales pipeline for territory/market and is able to provide required information for annual budgets and forecasting data on a monthly basis.
Works with Sales Manager to plan and organize personal sales strategy for the territory/segment.
Provides management with weekly work plans and activity reports.
Keeps abreast of product applications, QC requirements, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature, training, networking events, etc.
May perform other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma, Bachelors preferred
2 years desired sales experience
Have an aptitude for problem-solving
Have ability to determine solutions for customers (consultative sales approach)
Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and contact management software
Valid driver’s license.
Technical knowledge of concrete mix designs a plus.
