Sunovion Pharmaceuticals is looking for a Business Systems Manager to join our IT Organization in Marlborough, MA

The Business Systems Manager (BSM) performs a variety of strategic and technical activities. As a key member of the Business Relationship Management team, the BSM ensures alignment and support of IT with our business partners in Research and Development. The individual is responsible for the implementation, oversight and management of technology solutions and systems. He/She will be the primary IT contact for multiple R&D departments regionally and globally. The BSM may perform business and technical systems support, consulting, software product evaluations, project planning, application integrations, implementation/installations and testing. The corporate IT architecture supports COTS, Cloud, hosted and on-prem. applications. This position requires strong communications, planning and technical skills working directly with all levels of the business. There will be frequent interactions with business leadership, managers, system users, and external vendors. Additionally, the Business Systems Manager will be responsible for assisting other areas of IT in the delivery of business solutions across the enterprise and have the opportunity to oversee/manage/lead enterprise and/or global projects while partnering with sponsors and stakeholders across all divisions (R&D, Commercial, G&A). The BSM will maintain current knowledge and trends of the industry and able to propose business process and technology optimizations with a focus towards efficiency

Essential Functions

  • Manage the delivery and support of applications in business areas of primarily Research and Development but also in Commercial and G&A in a shared-services environment

  • Coordinate the technical system integration activities with both internal customers/partners as well as software and service vendors

  • Identify, consult and advise Business Users on areas of adopting current industry trends and technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning and Robotic Process Automation to improve on efficiencies and data modeling

  • Work in a GxP environment with working knowledge of 21 CFR Part11, global regulatory requirements and GAMP5

  • Interface with external vendors at all levels to manage relationships and ensure proper delivery of service

  • Be responsible for tracking and resolving business application issues, maintaining system and data integrity

  • Collaborate with colleagues in all areas of IT to maintain system performance, availability, security and compliance requirements

  • Manage all system activities for software upgrades and integration efforts

  • Build and maintain strong relationships within Information Technology and business partner communities

  • Advocate and deliverer project leadership and management (Schedule, Resources, Budget, Deliverables) excellence

  • Provide strong and effective communication skills (including presentations to all levels of the organization)

  • Management of SLA’s with vendors and partners

  • Software Release Management

  • Data Management

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Bachelors

  • 10+ Years

  • Ten years of IT/business experience supporting, leading and managing a complex mix of applications and support activities in a shared-services environment

  • Two or more years managing R&D staff, consultants, external resources, projects and budgets

  • Experience with tools and processes to support the following: Quality Management, Clinical Trial Management, Data Sciences, Medical Science Liaisons and Regulatory Affairs

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a technical or business concentration preferred

  • Hands-on experience in a Shared Services environment supporting international operations

  • Demonstrated experience of an SDLC and technical writing skills

  • Achievement and utilization of a broad skillset in application integrations/implementation including; planning, business requirements gathering/definition, designing, building, development, validation/testing and supporting

  • Define and have lead business process/technology improvements (includes: process documentation, optimization and automation, technology opportunities, Artificial Intelligence, RPA, etc.)

  • Business Process Management (Workflows); Leveraging technology for improvement, optimization and automation

  • Experience in meeting project success, working with milestones and deadlines, ability to train and supervises subordinate personnel; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers and supervisors; ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions; ability to follow or give verbal or written instructions as applicable

  • PMP certification preferred
