Job Description
The Functional Business Analyst (FBA) supports the sustainment of the faculty information system (FIS). The FBA works with schools/colleges/departments on data, training, administrative support, clean up data entry errors, troubleshoot issues, work with IT support to ensure appropriate login availability and activation, as well as work directly with faculty members on questions regarding the FIS. The FBA will also work to build requested workflows. Participate in planning and implementation of the FIS


Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred


Job Specific Qualifications
  • Experience with enterprise information systems including systems configuration, integration, and data transfer.
  • Ability to convey information in a precise and clear manner, in multiple formats (oral, written, graphic), and for multiple audiences.
  • Proficiency in office productivity software programs.
  • Ability to handle confidential material and work with utmost discretion.
  • Understanding of research terminology in an academic setting and familiarity with academic career paths and key stages.
  • Ability to automate and streamline processes and achieve operational efficiencies.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving, creative and analytical thinking, and strategic decision-making.
  • Understanding of information security and privacy.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.



Responsibilities
Configuration:

—Translate campus requirements to functional capabilities of the system according to goals and objectives of FIS at Syracuse University.



Maintenance:

—Manage security and permissions with respect to approved, role-vetted access protocols. Manages security and access for administrative and reporting rights for all users.

—Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison to vendor’s client support team, including awareness of system upgrades and new features that could add value to the implementation.



Training:

—Train faculty and administrative staff on data entry and report generation.

—Develop, implement and conduct FIS orientation for new faculty members.

—Train and support temporary assistants hired to facilitate data entry on behalf of faculty members.



User Support:

—Create, maintain, and update user support information in campus knowledge base (Answers). Create video demos that may be accessed asynchronously.

—Troubleshoot with faculty, administrative staff and IT staff on login issues, data entry and reporting questions and other elements of the FIS.



Reporting:

—Build custom reports to pull data from system.

—Gather information from campus leadership on report needs and facilitate creation
