At Hearst UK, there’s always more to the story. Join us as Digital News Editor at ELLE Magazine to start the next chapter in your career

Hearst is the UK’s leading premium publisher, and we’re the people behind iconic media brands such as Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar and Good Housekeeping, as well as, of course, ELLE. We’ve created a working environment that encourages everyone to pull together. We never stop looking for brave new ideas. We’ll always try to develop and improve, we trust each other to do our best, and we have fun as we build on our heritage to make history

ELLE’s digital team is a fun, dynamic group of women, who daily publish some of the best women’s interest journalism on the internet. The site covers fashion, beauty, culture, celebrity and more, and as News Editor, you’ll be working across all of it. This is a key role and an exciting opportunity for an existing news or section editor to join a market-leading brand

The job of the Digital News Editor is to shape ELLE’s news agenda on a daily basis; identifying stories that are pertinent to our readership, identifying a point of difference in the way ELLE should cover them, writing and editing news stories with SEO and Google’s news algorithm always front of mind and also with a view to generating follow-on stories or using a news moment as a springboard for creating a longer read news-feature. The job reports into ELLE’s Executive Editor (Digital) but involves liaising with lots of other teams, including ELLE’s print staff, as well as the central video and design desks

As this is an ‘Editor’ level position, we’re looking for someone with at least three years of experience on a digital-first publication. Knowledge of writing for SEO and various algorithms are key, as is the ability to use analytics tools and to be able to intelligently interpret data. We also love to see evidence of interviewing and on-camera skills, though these are desired rather than required

At Hearst UK, you can choose from a huge range of perks and benefits that can help you learn well, work well and live well including:

  • 25 days’ holiday (with the option to buy up to 5 additional holiday days)
  • Flexible working – we’re happy to discuss options!
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Healthcare cash plan
  • Spend a charity day with your favourite good cause
  • Life assurance and pension scheme
  • Regular socials and more!

There’s more to your story than you imagine. And the next chapter begins right here.
