Albion College invites applications for the Director of Public Purpose position. We are especially interested in candidates who will contribute to a campus climate that supports equity, diversity, and belonging. The School for Public Purpose and Professional Advancement (SPP) is the administrative home to Albion College’s experiential learning institutes and centers. Our co-curricular pedagogy emphasizes restorative community engagement and context-responsive professional development. We equip campus stakeholders and civic leaders with the tools necessary to name and pursue their purpose: our moral response to the world, its challenges and its possibilities.
The Director of Public Purpose is responsible for initiating, sustaining and assessing community partnerships, outreach, service and volunteer opportunities, civic engagement initiatives and activist involvements that meaningfully contribute to the development of Albion College students as critical, constructive participants in a multicultural democracy. This position also coordinates/evaluates the public-facing and philanthropic efforts of student organizations across campus. The DPP actively solicits grants and other external funding sources to build special programs that help manifest the vision of Albion College as a future-oriented leader in preparing students to anticipate, solve, and prevent problems in order to improve the human and global condition. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload with sensitivity and confidentiality.

FLSA Classification: Salaried / Exempt / Administrative
Position Duration: 12 months per year
Bachelor’s degree in education, human resource management, behavioral science or another field that supports expertise nourishing cultural community wealth in undergraduate student populations.
One to three years of demonstrated leadership experience in non-profit, grassroots or activist organizations.
Prior experience with an anti-racist strategic plan or working within anti-racist insitution(s)
