Northrop Grumman is seeking experienced E-6B SCA Aircraft Structures Mechanic 3 with E-6 aircraft background to support a contingent maintenance program based in Lake Charles, LA. The Navy E-6 is an airborne command post and communications relay based on the Boeing 707 platform The AEW aircraft are utilized primarily for long-range patrols along the entire U.S. border, and in source and transit zone countries. This platform, now modified to the E-6B standard, conveys instructions from the National Command Authority to fleet ballistic missile submarines, a mission known as TACAMO ("Take Charge And Move Out").You will perform a variety of operations to assemble, modify and make major assembly structures such as fuselage panels and bulkheads, and structural subassemblies such as stingers, rib-ties, and wing planks. To include rudders, flaps, and stabilizers. Aligns parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.Other duties may include:Performs such minor part-fitting operations as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, match-drill and locate, and reaming.Measures parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.Modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure.Will monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.Basic Qualifications:1. High School diploma and a minimum of 8 years of relevant heavy structure mechanic experience.2. Ability to be subject to a variety of physical conditions3. Able to wear respirator and other safety gear4. Ability to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or closed spaces
1. A&P license2. Ten or more years of heavy structure maintenance experience3. Previous experience on E-6 aircraft
