Summary of Job Duties:
The assistant to the project manager of the Minority and Women Owned Business Vendor Initiative (MWOBVI) will assist the project manager in the coordination and supervision of all programs, workshops, and initiatives sponsored or conducted by the MWOBVI.

The main responsibilities of the assistant to the project manager will be the organization, planning, and execution of the social innovation strategies prioritized by the Procurement Office in collaboration with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion of the University of Arkansas. The assistant to the project manager will support these offices’ efforts to foster business collaborations, assist our communication and outreach efforts, and help organize events and workshops.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current U of A student seeking a degree in Management or Strategy, Entrepreneurship, Venture Innovation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience creating and promoting service and experiential learning initiatives for students and/or community partners
  • Experience organizing events, and experience engaging, retaining and supporting participants as they register for these events
  • At least 6 months experience working as an assistant to a project manager
  • Experience promoting service-learning and student engagement programs
  • Coursework with an emphasis in entrepreneurship
  • Have work study award for the Spring 2022 semester

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of social innovation strategies, impact Investment mechanisms and specialized sources of information in the field of social entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Familiarity with Engage NWA, Finding NWA and other local initiatives to promote diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Familiarity with minority-owned businesses in our region
  • Great communications, marketing, and writing skills
  • Great organizational and logistical skills
  • Proficient skills using the MS Office Suite, Adobe, and In-Design or similar software
  • Ability to multitask and to produce deliverables under short notice
  • Demonstrated passion for entrepreneurship, diversity, and inclusion

Salary Information:
$11.50 per hour
