Department Overview


Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction,


restoration and emergency response.


Position Summary


This position is responsible for leading the Gas Transmission Construction Engineering team and to provide support to our Gas Transmission General Construction Crews across all regions spanning our entire service territory. Key aspects of team responsibilities include final job site preparation and coordination, participation in job site walk-downs, tracking and reporting job progress and units completed as key inputs to General Construction metrics and dashboards, providing subcontractor administration, completing Issue-for-Construction drawing redlines, and direct coordination with project management during construction. Construction Engineering is responsible for providing critical support to our construction crews through direct interaction with our five General Construction Superintendents that is integral to the organization's overall success.


This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.


Job Responsibilities



  • Leads the work with department to develop budget (expense, capital, and expenditures) and monitor, forecast and report on budget performance.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements at the department level.
  • Ensures maintenance and construction work in assigned area is completed on time, within budget and quality expectations while adhering to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Provides oversight on department work plans and directs others in managing and delivering on work plans.
  • Provides effective leadership, coaching and development of employees through the goal setting and performance evaluation process, development planning process, and providing frequent open and honest feedback.
  • Monitors and analyzes ongoing projects and work efforts to ensure project is completed on-time and on-budget.
  • Leads, tracks and reports on work progression.
  • Partners with the Superintendents to manage and monitor all project costs, budgets and schedules.
  • Acts as a point of contact for the Business Finance department to convey information on PCC, unit cost monitoring, and other financial and productivity measures.

Qualifications


Minimum:



  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Leadership experience, 2 years
  • Job-related experience, 8 years
  • CA Class C License, or equivalent
  • Experience managing capital, O&M, and labor budgets


  • Ability to pass federally mandated random drug and alcohol testing
  • Travel within PG&E service territory is required

Desired:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management, Construction Management, or other related discipline
  • Experience supervising union-represented employees.
  • Experience in a maintenance and construction organization.
  • Experience directing the preparation of schedules, records, and reports of work progress, future projects, and evaluation of completed tasks.
  • Experience managing employee performance to include recognition and the use of the progressive disciplinary process.
