Job Summary


Job Level: This role can be filled at a UX Researcher or Sr UX Researcher level dending on work experience, skills, and demonstrated ability. Please apply if you have the minimum experience required below or if you have much more experience!


About the Career: In this role, you will drive research activities, deriving insights, generating concepts and working with developers and product managers to build and test these concepts. You will conduct user research, analysis & synthesis, persona development, interaction design, and usability testing to create products that align to overall business needs. And you will work across multiple projects collaborating with designers, developers, product managers, and business stakeholders to show the value behind research, what it can do, and why its important.

COVID-19 vaccine requirement:


Wellmark administers the Federal Employee Health Program (FEP) in Iowa and South Dakota, which makes us a federal contractor subject to the federal contractor COVID-19 vaccine requirement. As a result, after January 4, 2022, all Wellmark employees must be fully vaccinated unless entitled to a medical or religious accommodation. New hires must become fully-vaccinated or have an accommodation approved within a reasonable time after accepting an offer. Unless an accommodation is in place, proof of vaccination will be required.


Qualifications


Required:



  • Require PhD in Social Sciences (e.g. Economics, sociology, psychology, decision sciences, Human-Computer Interaction), statistics, computer science or related field
  • Experience with designing and analyzing

OR



  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences (e.g. Economics, sociology, psychology, decision sciences, Human-Computer Interaction), statistics, computer science or related field
  • Plus, 2 or more years practical work experience in applied product research, UX Research, experience design, usability, analytics, data science or product teams. Prefer: journey mapping experience
  • Experience with designing and analyzing A/B experiments


  • Knowledge of qualitative research methods and at least one subset of methods (e.g., ethnography) plus usability, user interviews
  • Strong analytical, and synthesis skills with a proven ability to turn research results into product insights. Experience conveying research findings and implications to audience
  • Track record of collaborating across disciplines (design, engineering, data science) to drive change into products
  • Proven ability to work within tight timelines utilizing excellent project management skills

Preferred:



  • Master's degree
  • 5+ years of work experience in a relevant position or industry
  • Experience working with large-scale data in multi-method studies
  • Thorough knowledge and experience across a range of UX research approaches and methodologies - especially {RITE}

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES


a. In collaboration product owners, managers, or business stakeholders, develop test plans, conduct research, synthesize findings, make workshop agendas, and create actionable outputs.b. Work closely with product and design teams to identify research questions, build a research plan, and communicate the insights to shape the user experiences of Wellmark products and capabilities.c. Design and conduct generative and evaluative research studies using methods such as ethnographic research, interviews, surveys, usability testing, collaborative design among others. Identify the best method or mix of methods based on research questions, timeline and resourcing.d. Create an ongoing user feedback and testing program to ensure product development teams are meeting the needs of current and future customers.e. Proactively and routinely surface factbased, forwardthinking customer insights across business partnerships.f. Other duties as assigned.
