As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), the candidate will help leverage a pragmatic engineering discipline, combining standard practice with creative tweaks relevant to the situation at hand to ensure high levels of throughput, stability & availability of the platform

The business function in question is a mission critical suite of application components servicing clients, trading desks, middle office and many other functions spread across multiple regions of the globe and multiple time zones. Much of our support and software development focuses on optimizing existing flows and developing new flows by partnering with the business. You'll join a team of curious problem solvers with a diverse set of perspectives who are thinking of more creative ways of solving problems



The platform is being looked at from a modernization standpoint to adopt cloud computing. The SRE will be part of the exercise of transitioning from the existing architecture to the future state. The SRE will need to be part of the design exercise to ensure the right controls and hooks are baked into the design to enable SRE principles



Responsibilities:

Develop, test, and optimize automated tasks (Apps, Systems, Infrastructure)

Automate manual operational work by improving products or software

Partner with existing teams, including the Devops team, to identify top friction points and resolve to increase safe production release cadence

Partner with the Application Owner and improve AppFit scores for our applications

Build and drive adoption for greater self-healing and resiliency patterns

Lead and participate in performance tests; identify bottlenecks, opportunities for optimization, and capacity demands

Split time between operational work and engineering work

Keep stakeholders up to date with the plan and progress on stability / resiliency



Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a software engineering discipline

Experience in Incident, Change and Problem management process in an large scale operations

Experience with high level programing language such as Java, Python or C

Adept in the development of automated tools, systems, and services in multiple technology domains

Solid Scripting Skills (Perl, KSH, Python, Ruby, Powershell)

Understanding of network technology and concepts (TCP/UDP, SSL/Certificates, HTTP, NAT, DNS, NAS)

Experience in performance engineering and monitoring using tools such as AppDynamics, Splunk, Apica, Jmeter and Dynatrace
