Accounting Clerk



The City of Yankton is seeking qualified applicants for an Accounting Clerk in the Finance Office.



This person sets up cash drawer for daily transactions; opens safe, receives and enters all incoming cash; balances cash drawer, runs reports, and maintains files; prepares cash deposits; and greets customers and provides necessary information. This position requires knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices, knowledge of standard office procedures and practices; skill in providing customer service, use of personal computers and related software; and establishing cooperative work relationships with those contacted in the course of work.



This position is regular full-time which requires a high school diploma or GED; three years accounting, bookkeeping, records management, customer service, and/or clerical experience. The salary for this position is $39,521 to $50,033 (Range 29) per year, plus benefits including employer-paid health insurance premiums, 6% employer-matching retirement, life insurance benefits, and generous vacation and sick leave time off.
