The Department of Political Science and Public Administration is seeking to potentially hire part-time, adjunct faculty to teach in their online Master of Public Administration program. This program includes concentrations in general public administration, emergency management, health administration, and criminal justice.



The ideal applicant could teach a variety of courses in one or more of these areas of study. Preference will be given to applicants who have a combination of professional, practitioner experience and higher education (Ph.D. in the field of instruction). Strong consideration will be afforded to candidates who exhibit a demonstrated record of professional experience and success in graduate, online teaching. Excellence in teaching and learning conducted within a rigorous and stimulating environment is an important core value of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. The Political Science and Public Administration Department has a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and part-time faculty are expected to exhibit and maintain campus and department standards. Familiarity with the Canvas LMS is preferred. Candidates will be required to demonstrate the ability to provide an engaging online learning environment.



Work Location: Main campus of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke or online.

Minimum Qualifications:

For Public Administration Positions: Applicants with a Ph.D. in Public Administration will receive highest consideration. ABD candidates will be considered.



For Emergency Management Positions: Applicants with a Ph.D. in Emergency Management or a Ph.D. in Public Administration with an Emergency Management concentration and experience in emergency management will receive the highest priority; Ph.D. holders will be given second consideration. ABD candidates will be considered.



For the Health Administration Position: Applicants with a Ph.D. in Health Administration or a Ph.D. in Public Administration with a Health Concentration and experience in health administration will receive the highest priority; Ph.D. holders will be given second consideration. ABD candidates will be considered.



Applicants with a Masters in Health Administration, Masters in Emergency Management, or a Masters in Public Administration with significant experience in administration (10+ years) will be considered.
