Overview


The City of Gresham is seeking a manager to lead our Services workgroup within the Information Technology Department.

If you love technology and helping others, you’ll thrive in this management position. The IT Services Manager supports a growing team that works with internal customers to make a difference in the Gresham community by guiding day-to-day activities of Information Technology’s Services workgroup.

In partnership with the IT Director and IT Management Team, the Services Manager will develop a plan to organize, manage, and administer systems and services to maximize the City’s return on its technology investments. The IT Services Manager will have the opportunity to coach an innovative and diverse team to provide operational support, project coordination, ensure system readiness, and improve performance and outcomes for our user community and departments.

Position Description


The successful candidate must be able to manage a diverse remote group of highly technical individuals to build a dynamic & collaborative team. This person will be challenged to manage constantly shifting daily support priorities to deliver services to an evolving user community. The candidate will work with the Director to develop and deploy the City's next generation of support services and user focused technology solutions in an evergreen Microsoft Office 365/Azure environment.

In this position you will regularly get the opportunity to:

Lead: You will lead day-to-day supervision of the City’s 24/7/365 IT Support Services area which includes the work of System Administrators and Technicians; manages on-call coverage; plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of a diverse workforce; develops and revises work processes; establishes work schedules; provides and/or coordinates staff training; manages performance and works with staff to correct deficiencies; monitors work performed to meet agreed upon goals and objectives.

Help others: IT is a customer-service oriented department, and you will get the chance to work across all business units to provide guidance to other departments, staff and/or outside agencies; represents the City to the public, other agencies, governments, and organizations including making presentations and participating in meetings; acts as a representative on committees, interagency task forces, and special projects.

Innovate: We want to hear how we can be more efficient with our processes and methods. We’ll ask you to establish best practices and trends to ensure we are operating to the best of our ability. You’ll also help research and explore new solutions that align with the City’s strategic direction, pinpoint process improvement opportunities and help other adapt to change.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's Degree -AND-
  • Three years of related experience


-OR



  • Associate's Degree -AND-
  • Five years of related experience


-OR



  • High School Diploma/G.E.D -AND-
  • Seven years of related experience



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of ITSM principles
  • Office 365 or Azure/AWS certification

What you can expect during the recruitment process:

  • The most qualified candidates will be invited to a panel interview, (conducted via Zoom or Microsoft Teams video conference), which consists of subject matter experts and other colleagues who interact with this position. All panelists will be asked the same questions, and the candidates will be provided with the questions a day in advance of the interview to give them time to prepare.
  • After the panel interview, identified finalists will be invited to an executive interview, (typically conducted via Zoom or Teams video conference, but may be in person at the hiring manager's discretion), with the hiring manager and other leaders from the department. The executive interview is more of a guided discussion, so questions are not provided ahead of the interview. This is also the finalists’ chance to ask questions and make sure they understand the responsibilities of the position and feel it is a good fit for them.
