CCA seeks a detail- and people-focused administrator and co-curricular educator to help prepare students to find post-graduate career success through programming and career coaching. The Temporary Coaching and Event Coordinator will engage in functional responsibilities shared with the entire Career Development team, such as providing direct service to students via workshops and coaching appointments, and will also have specific responsibilities managing events that impact students, alumni, employers, staff, and faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has the capability to work at the intersection of student affairs and event management who is simultaneously an effective administrator, skilled communicator, creative thinker, and educator.

This is a temporary, part-time position at approximately 20 hours per week. This position is expected to run February 2 - May 17 for spring semester and may be renewable for periods of 15-18 weeks each for fall 2023 and spring 2024 terms


Career Advising:

  • Provide in-person and online one-on-one career coaching and skills development to CCA undergraduate and graduate students and alumni. Guide the development of professional identities and individual career action plans; evaluate student and alumni resumes, artist statements, applications, websites and social media presences, mock interviews, pitches, portfolios, etc.; provide critical feedback.
  • Present career-related online and in-class workshops and presentations on topics such as (but not limited to) portfolios, resumes, internship success, career basics, best career practices, company background research, employer expectations, interviewing skills, resume writing, etc. across Fine Arts, Humanities, Design, and Architecture fields.
  • Provide support to CCA's significant international population; deploy technology to provide services to such students (and alumni) in their home countries.
  • Support all aspects of 30+ events and virtual workshops per semester (Creative Connections Fair, Career Expo, Recent Grad Week, Career Basic Workshops, International and Career Week, Commencement Programming, etc.). This includes event planning; meeting project, planning, and marketing deadlines; in-person and online delivery; and post-event follow-through.
  • Assist in administrative duties and support, such as (but not limited to) job board oversight and review, social media, online marketing, informational tabling, and website updates.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • At least one of the following is required: (a) some prior coaching, tutoring, teaching, counseling, or advising experience (peer coaching/tutoring ok, online coaching/tutoring ok) and/or (b) some event planning/coordination or project management experience. Experience with both is highly desirable.
  • BA/BFA or similar degree expected.
  • Experience in career development/career advising, higher education, arts education, internship programs, professional or nonprofit organizations, recruiting, training, or human resources, or similar environment preferred. Some familiarity with needs/issues of students in art and design-focused educational programs and professions is preferred.
  • Passionate advocacy and support for all students regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, nationality and/or language is expected.
  • Organizational skills, including multitasking, time management, problem-solving, and adaptability to changing needs and frequent interruptions. Ability to balance collaborative and independent work. Ability to navigate administrative processes for purchasing, room reservations, event scheduling and ticketing, etc. Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, oral, social media-based, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Google for Education (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google calendars), prior experience with and/or ability to quickly learn software such as Handshake job board, student information systems, etc.
  • Professional demeanor and attunement to institutional culture; ability to exercise outstanding judgment. Service- and support-oriented approach.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, learn quickly, remember details, and convey accurate information to students.
  • While some coaching appointments can be completed online, this position absolutely requires the ability to travel to the San Francisco campus to participate in/lead events and engage in day-to-day responsibilities on a regular basis.

  • The compensation for this position is $25.00 per hour.
  • CCA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including the choice of five medical plans, generous holiday, sick & vacation time, a retirement match and tuition remission. CCA covers an average of 91% of the medical plan cost for the employee only and an average of 82% for employees with dependents.   • CCA considers a full-time work week to be 37.5 hours per week.
  • This position is a temporary position at 20 hours/week. The anticipated date of the position is May 17, 2023 (15 weeks).
