Summary of Position
The Music Education Program at Plymouth State University invites candidates to apply for a non-tenure track, full-time benefited Teaching Faculty position as Coordinator of Music Education and Director of Choral Activities beginning August 2022. The teaching load is 30 to 32 credit hours per year. The candidate will also be expected to advise undergraduate students and provide service to the university

Part of the Fine and Performing Arts Academic Unit at Plymouth State, the Music and Music Education programs offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with several options. Plymouth State Music and Music Education also offers a minor in Music, as well as coursework that can be applied toward Interdisciplinary Studies majors. PSU is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), and its Educator Preparation programs are approved by the New Hampshire Department of Education

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in music education and Master’s degree in music, education, or music education
  • Five or more years experience as a public school music teacher (general, instrumental, and vocal), including work as a mentor teacher for student interns
  • Demonstrated excellence as an instructor of choral ensembles
  • Experience with distance/remote learning and associated technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate or ABD in music education, conducting, or related field
  • Ten or more years experiences as a public school music teacher
  • Experience working in Professional Development Schools
  • University level music education teaching experience (including supervision of music education student interns) using student-centered learning strategies
