Job Description

This application is for a 6-month student role from July - December 2022. Resume review begins in January 2022. 

Work within one of several departments in Biogen’s Product and Technology Development (PTD) organization engaged in laboratory activities supporting the development and characterization of therapeutic products, manufacturing processes or new technologies.  

Position Description 

We are seeking a highly motivated co-op to work in the Analytical Development department at Biogen in Research Triangle Park, NC. The department is responsible for understanding proteins and developing methods to test and characterize new biological therapies. You will work on the development of a novel automated chromatography / mass spectrometry system designed to measure multiple features of a protein therapeutic during the manufacturing process. In collaboration with scientists in analytical and cell line development, you will support installation, establishment, method development, and initial testing on the new system, with opportunities to design experiments, analyze complex datasets, process results, and present conclusions and next steps to the team.


  • A strong background in analytical chemistry methodologies, including experience with chromatography or mass spectrometry
  • Ability to work independently in a laboratory environment
  • Skills in the analysis and processing of large datasets
  • Exercise strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organization skills


To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university


Senior undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited university with an engineering / science discipline.
