Accounts Receivable Specialist

Abilities First is seeking a full time Accounts Receivable Specialist responsible for generating billing to maintain funding from various funding sources, complete monthly aging and collection to ensure accounts are paid, and complete bookkeeping functions in accordance with GAAP.

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Responsibilities include:

  • Properly process or assist with cash receipts.
  • Ensure billing documentation is appropriate and prepare billing in a timely manner.
  • Learn and implement any new billing programs/mechanisms as necessary or required to ensure proper billing of all revenue; collaborate with IT Department as needed regarding technology needed for billing mechanisms.
  • Develop procedure manual for any new billing programs and train staff as necessary.
  • Review customer accounts and follow up as necessary.
  • Prepare or assist with annual audit schedules.
  • Attend required trainings, including but not limited Medicaid, OPWDD, SED, etc.
  • Other appropriate job-related activities as requested by supervisor.

. Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a combination of education and experience which in the view of the employer qualifies the candidate for the position may be acceptable.
  • Experience with non-profit accounting.
  • Excellent computer/technology skills.
  • Possess verbal and written communications skills in English to ensure adequate regulatory documentation.
  • Have the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Have the ability to lift up to 25 lbs, bend, pivot, and grasp with both hands in order to properly andd safely handle files and equipment with or without a reasonable accommodation.
