Why does the job exist?


Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.



The purpose of this position is to provide for the conduction of adjudicatory and/or administrative hearings.


How does it get done?


  • Review testimony, establish hearing dates, issue subpoenas, and confer on complex cases
  • Provide for the conduction of eligibility hearings and research regarding said hearings
  • Act as the final authority by rendering decisions, making recommendations, and ruling on motions and objections for each hearing
  • Provide just and impartial hearings by fully explaining all applicable issues and laws, while insuring the quality of program functions

Ideal Candidate


Experience in the following:

  • Ensuring completeness and proper application of the governing policies or regulations
  • Correctional program or correctional institution setting
  • Testifying in courts and/or hearings
  • Interviewing victims and witnesses
  • Utilizing administrative hearing procedures, rules of evidence and research methods/techniques

Minimum Qualification


Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Social Services or Labor Relations and four (4) years of experience in conducting administrative hearings, employment placement, claims adjudication and/or investigations. Employment Requirements


This position is designed safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing in accordance with all terms and conditions of Federal and State law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Pre-employment background check is required and conditional pending results.


Working Conditions


Executive Order 2021-066 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination (including proof of a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster dose) or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week.



The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated December 2, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to have received a primary series of vaccination by October 6, 2021, and a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster.

Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
