Montgomery Parks is currently seeking a skilled and highly organized Website Manager for a Term Contract Position. This key position reports directly to the Communications Director of the Public Affairs and Community Partnerships division and is responsible for publishing, managing, and optimizing digital content for the Montgomery Parks WordPress website. You will work with a cross-functional marketing team to meet the evolving needs of the agency and deliver the best user experience.

Examples of Important Duties

What the job will involve:
  • Navigate WordPress templates, design and add/edit content (copy, images, video, tagging, SEO metadata) to compose accessible and optimized web pages.
  • Utilize website software that identifies and explains accessibility issues to ensure the site complies with The Americans with Disability Act (ADA), oversee and maintain ongoing compliance.
  • Implement an SEO strategy that positively impacts traffic, engagement, and other established website KPIs.
  • Develop guidelines and training materials for website accessibilities and Search engine Optimization which includes quality control and best practice for documents, graphics, photography. Videography, and social media.
  • Work throughout the organization to correct issues, make recommendations and improvements to enhance user experience.
  • Work with people with disabilities to test documents and web page content for accessibility using screen readers and other assistive technologies.
  • Report accessibility, SEO, and research efforts to supervisor.
  • Evaluates, recommends, and consults with third-party developers and vendors that support website enhancements and efficiencies.

Important Skills and Characteristics
  • Strong background in front end WordPress web development and best practices
  • Previous experience with WCAG 2.1, ADA Title II, and Section 508 compliance
  • Knowledge of search Engine Optimization (SEO) and user experience design best practice
  • Familiarity with mobile and desktop screen readers and automated accessibility checkers
  • Project management skills
  • Communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with a variety of individuals and groups with tact and diplomacy.
  • Content and technical writing skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum two years’ experience in website development
  • Certification in WCAG/WAS is a plus
  • Previous experience performing high-level web development responsibilities
  • Ability to manage fast-paced multi-tasking responsibilities
  • Bilingual/multilingual a plus


Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, public relations, English, political science, marketing or other related field, and four years of experience in journalism, marketing or public relations; or



2. An equivalent combination of education and experience


3. A valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of their position.
