GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices. Performs the bi-weekly payroll process for approximately 125 employees utilizing an on-line payroll processing system. The payroll system has an electronic time management system resulting in exception only work for a payroll run.



TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES


Job responsibilities:

  • Maintain the work structure by creating and updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Prepare employees for assignments by conducting orientation program.
  • Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Maintain employee benefits programs and inform employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
  • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


  • BA in HR preferred
  • 3-5 years experience managing a multi-state HR/payroll department, including staff.
  • PHR Certification a plus.
  • Proficient at MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local level.
